Zcash Activates NU7 Upgrade on Public Testnet

Zcash has activated its NU7 upgrade on the public testnet, cutting the targeted time between transaction blocks from 75 to 25 seconds. The change could reduce waiting times for merchants and exchanges. Both major Zcash node programs now support the test, which uses valueless coins. NU7 also changes fee distribution and disables Sprout transactions. Developers will review test results on Oct. 20 and target mainnet activation for Nov. 5, although no activation block has been set.
