Key Points

  • Uber Technologies currently demonstrates a stronger overall revenue profile by consistently generating higher absolute sales totals than Coupang throughout all eight of the comparable periods presented.

  • Although both companies experience some normal quarter-over-quarter fluctuations, Uber Technologies maintains a steadier upward trajectory over this time frame compared to the increasingly flat pattern observed from Coupang.

  • Investors reviewing these trends should carefully monitor whether the expanding absolute revenue gap between the two companies continues to widen in upcoming quarters, or if Coupang manages to reaccelerate its growth.

Coupang: Facing Slower Quarterly Revenue Growth

Coupang(NYSE:CPNG) primarily generates revenue by operating an e-commerce marketplace and a fresh grocery delivery network in South Korea.

It recently filed administrative actions in the Seoul Administrative Court to contest a $462 million data security fine from regulators, while its executives also testified at a National Assembly audit regarding an antitrust probe.

Uber Technologies: Sustaining Steady Revenue Expansion

Uber Technologies(NYSE:UBER) operates a digital network connecting everyday consumers with independent providers for ride-hailing and local delivery services.

It recently entered a formal agreement to acquire the workplace catering company ezCater for $2.3 billion, and it simultaneously announced a major organizational restructuring that involves significant global corporate workforce reductions.

Comparing Quarterly Revenue for Coupang and Uber Technologies

Foolish Take

Coupang is the leading e-commerce provider in South Korea, often offering same-day or next-day delivery service. The company has diversified into restaurant delivery, video streaming, and fintech services, and its WOW membership program has captured 24.7 million active customers. South Korea's uncertain regulatory environment presents a risk, and it's currently wading through a few different legal battles. It recently acquired luxury platform Farfetch, which could juice its slowing revenue growth, but integration could be costly and take time to yield results. It also has a negative operating margin -- -1.77% as of Q2 2026 -- which indicates its operating expenses exceed its total revenue. Coupang will release its third-quarter earnings results on Nov. 3. Investors should continue to monitor its operating margin, revenue growth, and Farfetch integration, as well as any news about its ongoing legal troubles.

Uber manages a global platform in more than 70 countries, connecting users with rides and local deliveries. It also has an opportunity to develop a network of autonomous ride-sharing vehicles, with current partnerships with Alphabet's Waymo and Amazon's Zoox, and more in development. Despite quarter-over-quarter fluctuations, Uber's revenue growth remains relatively steady, and it delivered about 27% revenue growth over the last two years. Moreover, its Q2 2026 operating margin was 13.3% on a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis, up from 11.46% in Q2 2025, indicating it's doing a good job of managing costs relative to sales and potentially becoming more efficient. But Uber also faces litigation risks, most famously its battle regarding the classification of its drivers as contractors, rather than employees. A shift in this business model could upset Uber's business model, putting that operating margin growth at risk, even if revenue continues to grow. Uber will release its results on Nov. 4.
